Report: Pres aide Shchyogolev supports idea to regulate messengers
MOSCOW, May 31 (PRIME) -- Regulation of messengers in Russia will make work conditions for various market players equal, presidential aide Igor Shchyogolev said on Wednesday in an interview with Rossiya 24 television channel.
“I think messengers are a means of exchange of information, a connection service. When you buy a mobile phone number with a contract from an operator, you get registered; you give your passport data to respect the law, which requires it,” Shchyogolev said.
“When you use a messenger to share text messages, or other, you use the same function. That’s why what is important for one way of information delivery could be applied to another. We’ll simply speak about making conditions equal for various market players. I see nothing frightful about it.”
Deputies submitted a bill earlier in May to identify users of messaging services via their phone numbers under a contract with connection operators.
